TIG vs MIG Welding: Which Process Is Right for Your Project?

TIG and MIG welding are two widely used welding processes, but they are suited to different types of work. Choosing the right process depends on the material, thickness, required finish, project size and the intended use of the finished component.

TIG Welding

TIG welding provides a high level of control and is often used when a clean and precise weld is important. It can be suitable for stainless steel, aluminium and other metals where appearance and control of the welding process are important.

TIG welding is commonly used for precision metalwork, visible components, thinner materials and projects where the finished appearance of the weld matters.

MIG Welding

MIG welding is generally suited to faster fabrication work and can be practical for a wide range of steel and metal components. It can be used for both workshop fabrication and suitable on-site applications.

Which Process Should You Choose?
